Panchayat Sanchar Sewa Kendras
This is a scheme to provide basic Postal facilities to Gram
Panchayat Villages which do not have Post Offices. Through
this scheme Sale of Stamp and Postal Stationary booking of
Registered articles, delivery of letters, facility for Small
Savings (wherever feasible) can be done in these Gram
Panchayat Villages. For this Gram Panchayat is required to
select a youth who will be designated as Sanchar Kendra
Agent (SKA) of the Panchayat for operating the scheme within
the jurisdiction of the Panchayat.
The
Department of Posts will pay a fixed allowance of Rs.600/-
per month to the Sanchar Kendra Agent (SKA) for providing
these services. In addition, he/she will also get commission
for sale of stamp & stationary, booking and delivery of
registered articles as per prescribed rate given below:
(A) A commission of 5% of the value of Stamps/Stationary
will be paid at the time of purchase of stamp in normal
rural area. In hilly and tribal areas, commission at the
following rate will be paid :-

On sale up to Rs.100/- @5
On sale from Rs.
101/- to Rs. 200/- @ 7.5% On sale from Rs. 201/- and
above @ 10%
(B) A commission of 50 paise for booking and delivery of
each registered article
(C) For operating STD\PCO\Gram Panchayat Phone, commission
prescribed by the Department of Telecommunication (now
B.S.N.L.) can also be availed.
During
the Year 2001-2002, PSSK were opened in the state at 20
Villages, but due introduction of
matching saving scheme, PSSK service is now
functioning in two villages.
